Jan 2024: Make 2024 the year you learn to dance – new classes from 7 & 8 Jan – a perfect time to join us!

Now, I don’t know about you but I’m getting just a little tired of dull grey skies and rainy days and I can’t think of anything better to banish those January blues than getting back on to the dance floor with you all again.

Thankfully I have good news for us all as classes begin again this weekend (Sun 7th & Mon 8th Jan)! Yay!

It’s the perfect time to join us, whether you’re a brand new or returning dancer.

All our classes are currently held at St Christopher’s Church Hall, Trent Road, Sneinton, Nottingham

All welcome, no partner necessary.

Lindy Hop classes this month will be on Sunday 7th, 14th, & 21st January

  • 5.00pm – Level 1 Foundations (suitable for beginners)
  • 6:00pm – Practice and Social time (all levels)
  • 6:30pm – Level 2 Improvers

Brand new dancers – all welcome, no partner or experience necessary – what are you waiting for?!

Our level 1 Lindy Hop class at 5pm on Sunday is completely suitable for brand new dancers, so why not jump in and give it a whirl! It’s just £7 per person.

We start simply with walking (really!) sometimes fast, sometimes slow, then add a little more rhythm and footwork as needed. We learn to connect with each other safely and respectfully, and build our dancing skills together through the class and each week through the month.

Any gender can dance any role (lead or follow) in fact many dancers learn both over time and switch dancing can be so much fun. We all dance with each other and rotate in the class so no partner necessary. You can check out our ‘What is Lindy Hop?’ page for more details about the dance.

Remember everyone learns at different paces in the class, some may have danced before, some never a step, but we all support each other and laugh along the way, (and tbh the ‘wibbly wobbly’ moments are often just as much fun as the ‘aha! I got it!’ moments) and you will learn and improve week-by-week even if you start with two left feet and you’re more tortoise than hare. If you throw yourself, and enjoy the ride, you’ll have a blast.

£20 bundle offer to gently encourage you ALL to attend ALL Lindy Hop Sundays in January

Now the biggest challenge might be turning up to your first class (though you really needn’t worry) but to get the most out of your experience, you really should try a full month of classes (it’s only 3 weeks!)

So, if you want to help yourself to commit to a full month of classes, you can pay for all three January level 1 classes for the slightly reduced price of £20 if paid in full when you join us on 7 January.

I’m also making the same offer to level 2 dancers – all three level 2 (only) January classes for £20 if paid in full on 7 January.

For those of you that do both classes each week, you’re already getting a fabulous discount, but you too can make a small extra saving by paying £35 up front on 7 January for all three January Sundays.

(Note: there are no refunds for non-attendance – this small offer is to help give you the incentive to join us each week and really get the benefit of regular attendance, when perhaps the sofa might be calling your name a little too loudly, you can remember you’ve already paid 😉 – I hope it helps )

Card or cash accepted on the door. (Btw I’m working on a pre-pay system as an option but not set up yet).

Solo Jazz classes will be on Monday 8th & 22nd January (8pm)

This class is also completely suitable for beginners.

The class itself is an all levels class from 8pm where complete beginners work alongside more experienced dancers at their own pace with options for all at their own level.

All are welcome, no experience necessary.

It’s really good fun and a dance style in its own right including vernacular Jazz and Charleston rhythms and movements which are danced independently, either alone, in pairs or in a group but as it also teaches us balance, coordination, style, and most importantly, rhythm you can bring this into and improve your partnered dancing too.

The good news is we’ve moved from one class a month to two a month this year. I’m so excited!

See you soon!

Whichever classes you’re able to get to, whenever you’re able to join us, I’m really looking forward to meeting you all on the dance floor in 2024 (at St Christopher’s Church Hall, Trent Road, Sneinton, Nottingham).

Roll on the weekend!

Love Lisa xx

PS – I realised while getting ready for the new year that 2024 (in May) will mark 20 years since I started Lindy Hopping – my lindy-versary! I’ll have also been teaching it for around 16ish years and running Nottingham Lindy Hop for 14 years. My goodness that’s a long time! I’ll have to think about how we can celebrate. 😘
