NEW! Mon 18 Sept – Solo Vernacular Jazz Dance Class

Hi lovely dancing people.

Good news! I’m running our first Solo (Vernacular) Jazz Dance Class, since restarting NLH, this Monday 18 September from 8pm at our usual venue, St Christopher’s Church Hall, in Sneinton.

It’s an intro level class starting from the basics. No experience necessary. All welcome.

£7pp on the door (card or cash)

Complimentary refreshments and free on street parking parking with some spaces inside the gates too. Easy bus route from town or grab an e-bike or e-scooter.

Just like when I restarted Lindy last year, I’m going to start with a monthly drop in class (most probably on 3rd Mondays of the month in 2023) and build up from there depending on interest.

📣 Here are the new dates for our Lindy Hop classes this Autumn – September through to December – yay!

1st, 2nd, 3rd Sundays (ex Oct)
SEPT – 3rd, 10th, 17th
OCT – 8th, 15th, 22nd
NOV – 5th, 12th, 19th
DEC – 3rd, 10th, (With 17th Dec – Christmas Social Dance)

Times:

5.00pm Level 1 Foundations (suitable for beginners)
6.00pm Practice and Social Time
6.30pm Level 2 Improvers

Where:

At Christopher’s Church Hall, Trent Road, Sneinton, Nottingham

Cost: cash or card, on the door

£7 per class per person
£12 per person for both classes on the same day

Other:

Complimentary refreshments provided

Ample free on-street parking with some limited (also free) spaces inside the gates to the hall. Direct short bus ride from city centre or make use of the e-scooter and e-bike schemes.

Sun 6 Aug: Summer Social Dance and Fuddle

It’s time for our next relaxed, friendly, swing dance social with warm up fun class, snowball, shim sham, jam circles and, of course, a Fuddle.

Everyone’s invited to bring a donation of food (sweet or savoury) to the Fuddle table for everyone to share. We’ve had some lovely food in the past.

I’ll provide tea, coffee, juice and biscuits as usual.

We’re at our usual venue, St Christopher’s Church Hall, Trent Road, Sneinton, Nottingham. Free parking on street with a few places available inside the gates to the hall for early birds.

Doors open at 5pm and close at 9pm.

Cost £10 per person (card or cash on the door)

No partner necessary. All welcome.

Come join us to swing your socks off, have a natter and most of all have a fun evening with all your dancing friends.

July classes – Sundays 2nd, 9th, and 16th

👋 Hi lovely dancing people!

📣 Our July Adult Lindy Hop classes start tomorrow- yay!!

🗓️ We have classes on the first, second, and third Sundays in July, that’s Sunday 2nd July, Sunday 9th July and Sunday 16th July.

1️⃣ Foundations 1 starts at 5pm for beginners and improvers (kick/charleston rhythms this month).

☕️ 🎶 There’s time for all to practice, social dance, and catch up from 6pm (Refreshments provided)

2️⃣ Foundations 2 for Improvers and refreshing Intermediates starts at 6.30pm (triple steps to swing outs)

🎟️ Classes are £7 per per person per class
Both classes on same day is £12 per person

📍Classes are held at St Christopher’s Church Hall, Trent Road, Sneinton, Nottingham.

🥰 No partner necessary, all welcome.

F1 class will be doing something a little different in May by exploring ‘Frankie’s’ Shim Sham – an essential must know for all Lindy Hoppers (suitable for beginners)

F2 class will be focussing on Frankie’s 6’s (anyone with a grasp of triple step basic footwork and connection will be fine here)

April & May: Spring into Lindy Hop!

📣 Good news folks! I have some more dates planned for us all and after the success of our introductory classes over the last couple of months I’m changing things up a little bit so that we can continue to build and grow together.

I’m adding a second class (Foundations level 2) to our Sunday sessions for those of you ready to expand your repertoire and skills a little further while still working on the fundamentals.

The Intro class will become Foundations level 1. Both classes will be drop in, pay on the door. No partner required.

Sun 5 & 19 March – Up coming classes

Hello everyone!

I’m so looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow at our first of two more ‘Intro to Lindy Hop’ classes in Sneinton this month on Sunday 5th and Sunday 19th March. The weather may be getting colder but we’ll soon warm up out on the dance floor.

Classes are suitable for complete beginners and rusty returners.

What will we be learning next?

This month we’ll be building a few new connections and rhythms into our repertoire including some of the basics of the ‘swing out’ Lindy Hop’s fundamental essential move/connection/pattern. It’s going to be a blast!

Don’t worry if you’re brand new, or you’ve had to miss a few classes, it’s still a great time to join us. No experience is necessary as we start slowly from the beginning and build up in these intro classes. No partner necessary either as we rotate dancers around the group circle so every lead dances with every follow – it’s the most effective and most fun way to learn.

Anyway, as those of you in our Facebook group or who follow our Facebook page will already know, following the continued fabulous success of our January classes, I have confirmed some new class dates for February and March. Yay!

They’ll be on first and third Sundays of each month (that’s the 5th and 19th of both months). So the first is this Sunday 5 February (and as I’m posting late – that means TODAY!!)
