Yay! Classes start back today 🙂 Martyn and I will be helping you shake the rust off your dancing feet and get back in the swing of things at The Old School Hall from 5.30pm. See you all later!

7:00pm More Rhythms
8:30pm Intermediates

£5 on the door for the session
(£4 only for those just doing Fundamentals)

Note: you need to know all your rhythms and standard patterns before moving into Intermediates

Summer Break then Tea Dance on Sun 27 July

Hi Guys! Just to remind you all that we’re now on Summer break for the next 2 weeks before coming back with a bang with a birthday tea dance on Sun 27 July.  That means no classes for the next 2 weekends.

The Tea Dance will start at 6pm through till 10.30pm and will include one of our lovely fuddles.  Everyone brings a small contribution of food to share, we put it on a big central table and we all dig in – fabulous 🙂  Then there’ll be swing music all night, a fun ice-breaker class, snowballs, jam circles and generally lots of fabulous social dancing.  All swing dancers are welcome regardless of your experience or where you usually dance.  £5 on the door (£4 students and beginner dancers).

Sun 11 May: We’re back!

Hi everyone!

Hope you all had a fabulous May Bank Holiday weekend.  I know everyone who went to Hullzapoppin’ had an awesome time (incl yours truly) but more about that another day.

For now, just a reminder that Lindy Hop classes are back on today – yay!  From 5.30pm we’ll start with Fundamentals where we’ll be playing around and getting our blood pumping with some great kicking rhythms.

Then from 7pm we’ll be joining the rest of the Lindy Hop world, gearing up for Frankie Manning’s 100th Birthday and World Lindy Hop on May 26th – More Rhythms and Intermediates classes today (classes 2 & 3) will be starting to learn Frankie’s Lindy Chorus … read all about it about it here … http://frankie100.com/frankie-100-global-choreo/ … it’s going to be fab 🙂  Note: Improver dancers are very welcome to stay on and keep learning the routine through the Intermediate class.

Remember it’s £4 if you’re only doing Fundamentals or just £5 total if taking part in any of the rest of the session.  The usual tea and coffee and biscuits will be in full flow and I’m looking forward to seeing you all again soon.

Also Solo Jazz Roots class is back on Monday evening; 8pm for 8.15pm through till 9.15pm with extended practice time to 10pm with music running for you to run through various routines we’ve learned in classes past or simply work on your freestyle.  Note: the practice time will still be facilitated by me but there will be limited to no teaching.  In the class however I’ll be working your dancing socks off as usual 🙂

Happy Easter Everyone! No classes this weekend

Just a quick reminder that there are no classes this weekend on Sunday or Monday.

Given that we’re a weekend class we always take a break on bank holiday weekends but endeavour to be open the rest of the year, with just a few exceptions.

I look forward to seeing you all again on Sunday 27 April for Lindy Hop classes and Monday 28 April for Solo Jazz Roots and until then, take care and have a great weekend.

Jazz Roots Class – 2 week Easter Break

Just to remind you all that our Monday night Solo Jazz Roots class is taking a 2 week break over Easter. There will be no class this Mon 14 April or the following bank holiday Monday 21 April. Classes start back on Monday 28 April 2014 and I look forward to seeing you all then 🙂

Note: Lindy hop classes are still running today (Sunday 13 April) as usual. We will have just the one week break on the bank holiday weekend for these classes.

It’s here! I Charleston Nottingham dancing and filming this weekend (22 & 23 March)

It’s almost time!  2 days of lots and lots of opportunities to get your Charleston on across Nottingham this weekend as all the swing groups of Nottingham come together and get out and about to get the filming underway for our very own ‘I Charleston …’ video – happiness, your name is Charleston 🙂

Mon 17 Mar: Solo Charleston fun moves for the weekend

Continuing the “get ready for ‘I Charleston Nottingham’ “theme we’ll be covering lots of easy, fun, charleston and solo jazz moves tonight to get you all jazzed up to strut your stuff during the filming this coming weekend.

Therefore it’s going to be a great night for all local dancers whether you attend the class regularly or not to come and have some fun and get prepped and warmed up for the weekend.

As always the class is open to all levels, ages and experiences (i.e. beginners very welcome)

Class is at our usual venue, The Old School Hall, Sneinton from 8pm to 9.30 (class underway at 8.15). Cost £4.

Sun 16 Mar: Charleston madness at classes today!

As I mentioned at classes last week, next weekend all the swing groups of Nottingham are coming together to film at various locations around the city to put together our own ‘I Charleston Nottingham’ video. It’s going to be amazing!

So this week we’re going to be getting you all Charleston and Jazz happy to strut your fabulous swinging stuff with glee next weekend.
