TODAY SUN 26 JAN : No Sneinton Classes but Fab Sunday Social at … VENUE CHANGE NOW AT BREAD AND BITTER, MAPPERLY

Fab times ahead for Nottingham Lindy Hoppers today. We’re taking a break from classes while I’m away teaching and dancing at DJam Swing Dance Camp up in Durham so nothing happening at our Old School Hall in Sneinton (So no classes today folks, we’re back next Sun 2 Feb)

… However …

It’s time to get social dancing!!

Kate and Becky (2 of our regular Nottingham Lindy Hop dancers) have organised a FREE social dance at the AEDA Arts Academy at the bottom of Hockley (nr Desi Downtown and Bunkers Hill).

There will be great music, a fab space to dance and tea and coffee available at Becky’s Global Cafe (at AEDA) plus you can BYO food and drink if you like – make it a Fuddle and bring things to share πŸ™‚ ).

It’s a wonderful opportunity to hang out, swing out, chat, dance and generally have a ball with your fellow Nottingham Dancers practicing all those new moves from your regular classes. All are welcome!

The only thing to note is that you need to get to AEDA between 7 and 7.30pm as we need to keep the doors locked while we’re using the centre (kind of like a proper old school secret dancing venue πŸ™‚ ) So be there and don’t miss out!

Dancing will go on to at least 10pm maybe longer πŸ˜‰ oh and did I mention it’s free!!

Hope you all have a fabulous time, I’m really looking forward to hearing all about it and seeing the pictures πŸ™‚

See you all back at classes next week on Sunday 2nd February. Lisa xx

Learn the Shim Sham this Sunday 24 Nov in Sneinton

Shim Sham this Sunday in Sneinton!

Come along and learn this classic routine ever Lindy hopper should know. It’s great fun and something a little different.

It’ll be Β£5 and we’ll run the learning over the whole session from 5.30 to 9 taking breaks along the way where we’d usually break for a change of class. If you can only make a part of the session (at the times you usually attend classes) don’t worry, you’ll still learn a lot in that part of the session to make it worth your while. Plus there’ll be hints for those more experienced on how to take your Shim Sham to the next level.

Look forward to seeing you tomorrow. Here’s a little inspiration in the meantime πŸ™‚

Sneinton Lindy Classes – Today Sunday 29 Sept

Hi guys. Just a note that, because I will be a very tired lady after dancing at The Balboa Gathering this weekend (and also without the lovely Emily), I’m not planning to run the Intermediate class today. If folks want to stay, practice and go over things I’ve taught recently, then we can discuss that at the session but ideally I’m hoping to finish earlier tonight. Fundamentals will be on as usual as will Improver. Plus anyone still owing money for the workshops next weekend can pay me today πŸ™‚ See you all later!!

Solo Jazz Class does The Big Apple!

Our Solo Jazz class for the next few weeks will be focusing on THE BIG APPLE!

Tonight (Mon 2 Sept) we’ll be starting with looking at the Big Apple as the Social dance craze of 1937.

It’s essentially a fun, party dance where (after we’ve learned them) steps are called out for the dancers in a random order rather than being part of a routine.

In later weeks we’ll be moving on to The Keep Punchin’ choreography.

For those of you completely unfamiliar with the Big Apple Dance here’s a quick Wikipedia link to get you started.

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Apple_(dance)

More info will follow over the next few weeks.

This is a great time to start coming along to Jazz classes.

  • Monday evening
  • 8pm to 9.30pm with the class running between 8.15-9.15 allowing time for practice, breaks, chat and tea!
  • Β£4.
  • Old School Hall, Sneinton
  • See you later πŸ™‚
