Sunday 16 Dec: Sneinton’s Swinging Christmas Tea Party and Fuddle

Yay! Today is Christmas Party Day!

To celebrate Christmas and the end of another great year of classes at Sneinton we’re going to be swinging out in style to some top tunes provided by Jazz Ian, Emily W, Lisa B and John R.

It’s also a Fuddle so everyone is asked to bring a little something to add to the big table to share with everyone else. I’ll be providing Teas, Coffees and soft drinks as usual but you’re welcome to bring your own if you’d like.

Doors open at 5:30pm
Fun taster dance class at 6pm (ish)
Then dance on through till 10pm

Cost £3 on the door

Fri 14 Dec – Swing Out with Nottm Uni Swing Society @ Red

It’s Jitterbug night tonight at Spanky Van Dykes in Nottm. A night of classic and Electro Swing, a taster swing dance class and live music from the Electric Swing Circus.

As a warm up, Nottm Uni Swing Society are taking over Red (basement bar in Crowne Plaza, Talbot St) from 7:30 to 9ish and playing some top tunes to get us all swinging out in style before the main event.

They’ve invited all swing dancers in the area to come and join them (whether you’re off to Jitterbug later or not) and so a bunch of us are heading down. It’s a great opportunity to meet and dance with all these new enthusiastic Uni Swing Dancers and the more the merrier.

    Live Jive 10 – Social Dance w. Live Music from Benny Lee & The Whistle Stop 5!

    We’re making a little change to our classes schedule this evening in Sneinton and will only be running the 1st and 2nd classes so that we can close the doors at 8pm and all get away to head off to a fab social dance event…

    Tonight (Sunday 14 October 2012) in Radcliffe on Trent, Benny Lee and the Whistle Stop 5 (http://bennylee.co.uk/) will be blowing the roof off The Grange Hall with some top jump jive and swing dance tunes for us all to dance the night away to.

    Tickets are £10.  You can buy them from the website http://www.livejive.eu/ or on the door this evening.

    Doors open at 7.30pm, Dancing from 8.00pm – live sets at 8.15, 9.15 and 10.15 and it all ends at 11.30pm.

    Weds Night Swing @ The Roundhouse

    Fancy a dance or/and just want to hang out at a fabulous bar with friends (old and new) listening to great swing music? Then head to The Roundhouse on Wednesday nights 🙂

    Every Weds night (incl tonight!) from 9pm to close (for free) we have a little area of the bar to ourselves to hang out and play our music and dance the night away @ The RoundHouse, Royal Standard Place, Nottm, NG1 6FS.

    Plus, for those of you wanting to expand your swing dance repertoire, earlier in the evening, from 8pm, John at Nottingham Balboa runs an intro to Balboa class which all are welcome to join for just £2.

    Olympic Opening Ceremony is almost here!

    To all Nottingham Lindy Hop Dancers

    Thank you so much for all your support over the last few months as I’ve been travelling back and forth to London rehearsing for my part in the Olympic Opening Ceremony which will take place tonight.

    It’s been an amazing experience for me but I know it’s disrupted your regular classes quite a bit this Summer and I especially want to thank Barry for keeping everything running like clockwork along with Emily and Jenna for covering for me at the Lindy Hop and Solo Jazz classes – you are all stars!

    There’s a small piece about me in the Nottingham Evening Post today and I give you all a big thank you there too 🙂
