Hello everyone

Yay! Classes are back on this weekend in Sneinton (St Christopher’s Church Hall, Trent Road)

A new Lindy Hop class block starts the Sunday 10 June. It’s a great time to start!

  • 5.30 Doors open
  • 5.45 Beginners/ Fundamentals
  • 7.10 Improvers/ More rhythms and skills
  • 8.20 Intermediates/ Extension, Expansion and Style

£5 per class or £7 for 2, £8 for 3 (in same session)

Complimentary refreshments

Social dancing before and after classes

And on Monday 11 June we’ll be starting to learn the ‘Tranky Do‘ a fabulous original era routine choreographed by Pepsi Bethel

I’ll post more about this later but for now search YouTube and you’ll find out what it’s all about 🙂

  • 8.00pm – Doors open (warm up and practice)
  • 8.15pm – 9.15pm – Class time
  • 9.15pm – 9.30pm – Practice and cool down

£5 per class on the door

Spring Break – We’ll be back on Sun 10 and Mon 11 June

Hello everyone

I hope you’re having a good bank holiday weekend.

Just a little message to remind you all that we’re now on Spring Break. We’re taking two weeks to relax and recharge and we’ll be back with a new block of Lindy Hop Classes on Sunday 10 June and Solo Jazz Roots on Monday 11 June.

(That means there are no classes between Sunday 27 May and Monday 4 June).

I hope you all enjoy the break and I’ll see you all soon!

By the way thank you to everyone who came to classes during May. The sun was shining outside but you still came to class and worked so hard! These are the little things that make me happy! Thank you 🙂

Sun 8 April: Sunday Lindy Hop Classes – New block starts

Hello everyone!

Our new teaching block starts this Sunday, it’s a great time to join us!

You can learn to Lindy Hop every Sunday at our regular venue, St Christopher’s Church Hall on Trent Road in Sneinton.

No partner necessary as we rotate partners in class.

There’s time to practice and social dance before and between classes plus complimentary refreshments.

Times and prices:

5.30 – Doors open

5.45pm – Fundamentals/Beginners

7.10pm – More Rhythms/Improvers

8.20pm – Expansion/Intermediates

9pm – close

Price per person for classes taken in the same evening:

1 class = £5

2 classes = £7

3 classes = £8

Sun 25 March: Sunday Shim Sham, Tea Dance & Fuddle

Hello everyone. Apologies for the delay in getting the details out about this event. Unfortunately I’ve been a bit unwell this week.

Anyway, as I’ve been mentioning in classes, I’ll be teaching Frankie’s Shim Sham this Sunday at our usual venue, St Christopher’s Church Hall, Trent Road, Sneinton, Nottingham.

Doors will open at 2.30pm with the workshop starting at 3pm and going on till 5pm.

Following the workshop, starting at 6pm, we’re having a tea dance and fuddle.

Please bring an item of food (savoury or sweet) for the fuddle table so we’ll all have food to share to keep us dancing throughout the evening. There’ll be the usual teas and coffees, fun, and lots of great music and of course dancing 🙂

The one hour break will give you time to freshen up and time for me to get the hall set up for the evening 🙂

– The workshop and dance combined is £10

– To take part only in the workshop will be £7

– The dance alone will be £5

All classes are now back at St Christopher’s Church Hall, Sneinton

Hello everyone! Here’s a quick reminder that all classes are now back at St Christopher’s Church Hall, Trent Road, Sneinton.

**Today, Sunday 11 Feb, we have our Lindy Hop classes. Doors open 5.30 and close at 9pm

5:45 – Fundamentals

7:10 – More Rhythms (Improver)

8:15 – Expansions (Intermediates)

This will be the last week of our 6 week block.

**Tomorrow, Monday 12 Feb, will be Solo Jazz Roots. Doors open 8.00pm and close 9.30pm.

8.15 – Solo Jazz (mixed levels)

Currently exploring an A-Z of Jazz steps – new dancers welcome any week.

14 Jan – 4 Feb: Alternate venue and Jazz classes start back too

After a fabulous first week of Lindy Hop classes held at our regular venue, St Christopher’s, I am pleased to confirm that we’ll be continuing for the next four weeks at Sneinton Hermitage Community Centre while St Christopher’s takes it’s turn as a much needed homeless shelter.

We’re also starting back with our Solo Jazz Roots class again this Monday, also at the alternate venue, so more fabulousness to come 🙂

The new venue is just down the road and although parking is a little trickier there is still plenty of on street parking near by, it’s got good size rooms to dance in plus a kitchen so we can all get that much needed, essential, cuppa between classes.

Sun 7 Jan: Happy New Year! Classes Start Back

Lindy Hop classes start back this week in Sneinton. Yay!

It’s a perfect time to start with us if you’ve never been before and of course about time we got back in the swing of things for all the rest of you fabulous people 🙂

I’m really looking forward to seeing you all!

CLASSES

  • 5.45 – Fundamentals (suitable for beginners and those fine tuning their basics)
  • 7.10 – More Rhythms and Patterns (Suitable for Improvers)
  • 8.20 – Intermediates

VENUE

This first Sunday back (7 Jan) will be at our usual venue, St Christopher’s Church Hall.

Please note that for 4 weeks after thIs Sunday we will be at an alternate venue while the hall is used quite rightly and admirably as a Shelter.

More details will follow but for now we can enjoy our first week back in our usual home 🙂

PRICES

After much deliberation I have decided I need to make a small change to our prices this year. At most this will result in a £1 increase for those who take multiple classes in one session. I hope you still think this is fair and reasonable for the quality of our classes and our venue.

  • If you attend one class this will remain at just £5,
  • for those taking 2 classes in one session this will now be £7,
  • and for those taking 3 classes in one session this will be £8.
  • For students and unwaged there will remain a maximum charge of £5.

If these price changes cause anyone difficulties in attending classes then please let me know as I never want money to get in the way of your dancing.

Of course, as always there will be the usual complimentary teas, coffees and biscuits.

Sun 17 Dec: Our Christmas Tea Dance and Fuddle

Hello lovely dancing peeps!

I’m now very excited as our annual Christmas Tea Dance and Fuddle is tomorrow! Hopefully you’ll have seen all the details on Facebook by now but if not here you are …

We’ll be celebrating in our usual relaxed, friendly style, welcoming all swing dancers, new and old, local or further afield.

As always we encourage everyone to bring a small donation of food (sweet or savoury) to add to our *Fuddle* for us all to share after our *fun intro class* has got us all warmed up and raring to go. Complimentary tea, coffee and squash is provided but you’re welcome to BYOB if you prefer.

Then we’ll *social dance* our Christmas socks off together through till 10.30pm with the odd Shim Sham, Snowball and Jam Circle along the way.

I can’t wait and am so looking forward to seeing you all on Sunday 17 December!!

Doors open 6pm. £5 per person.

Sun 10 Dec: CLASSES ARE STILL ON TODAY 🙂

Hello everyone! Hope you’ve been enjoying the snow this morning. All the main roads are clear and even the side roads are very passable in our neck of the woods so classes will still be running today. So if you’re able to get out there’ll be a warm cuppa and a biccie waiting for you. Drive safe. And if you can’t get out today don’t worry, it’s our Christmas party next week so I’ll look forward to seeing you then 🙂 Lisa xx
