Hope you’re enjoying the sunshine.
Just a note to say that Lindy classes are definitely on today (Sun 26 April) so tear yourself away from the garden and come and join us. Bob and I will be continuing with triples for Fundamentals (5.30ish), kicks for Improvers (7ish) and Swing Out variations in Intermediates (8.15ish).
Tomorrow (Mon 27 April) at Solo Jazz class (8pm) is the last week of learning the Tranky Doo routine. It was amazing to see a whole room full of us Dipsy Doodling at Friday’s Late Night Lindy. Now, let’s finish it off, polish it up and learn some variations too 🙂
Next week however (Sun 3 and Mon 4 May) is a Bank Holiday weekend so we’ll be taking a break then (as we always do on bank hols) so hope to see lots of you at classes today and tomorrow.

Fancy something a little different? Lindy Hop and Solo Jazz have foundations in Tap dance and there is so much cross over and fun to be had learning it all 🙂
For those interested in experiencing a little bit of free form rhythm tap there’s an opportunity tonight at Nottingham Tap Rhythm Project‘s first Tap Jam at City Arts in Hockley from 6.30pm.
You can take a short intro class (with tap shoes on hand to borrow) and then watch a performance by professional Rhythm tapper Jess Murray with live music from Untold Rhythm before maybe taking to the floor and having a bash yourself?? Of course you can also sit back and support others while enjoying refreshments at Becky’s Global Cafe. £5 from 6.30pm or free from 7.30pm.
All welcome, young and old, experienced or complete beginners.
Note: this is not a Nottingham Lindy Hop event but we love Jess and the Tap Rhythm Project and all it tries to do to bring Rhythm Tap to all. See you there I hope 🙂
Welcome back everyone! Hope you all had a great Easter break. Classes started back today with a change of rhythms in the levels. Triple steps in Fundamentals, Kicks in More Rhythms and Swing Out technique in Intermediates. You were all fab and worked so hard. We’re looking forward to moving these forward with you over the next few weeks.
Don’t worry if you missed this week though, classes are always designed for you to join in whenever you can. Though for those of you able to attend more frequently you’ll get to build on your skills each week. I look forward to seeing you all next Sunday.
Monday 13 April – The Tranky Doo!
Now for those of you looking for a different challenge, tomorrow night is our Solo Jazz Roots class and for the next 3 weeks I’ll be teaching the Tranky Doo routine. Classes are at our usual venue, The Old School Hall and will start at 8pm each Monday evening. They’ll cost £4 each or just £10 for all 3 if you pay in the first week.
The Tranky Doo is a really fun solo jazz routine danced by the savoy ballroom dancers back in the day and still enjoyed today by Lindy hoppers the world over.
All are welcome to join the classes – I’ll pace the class to suit all.
It’s a wonderful routine and great fun so please come join us :-).

I just want to remind you all that we are currently in the midst of the fabulous Robin Hood Hop swing dance event here in Nottingham (www.robinhoodhop.com) and so TODAY there are NO REGULAR LINDY CLASSES at Sneinton.
Instead as part of the camp there is a TEA DANCE and FUDDLE at our usual venue THE OLD SCHOOL HALL and ALL are WELCOME!
It starts at 4pm and goes on till 9pm. Cost £5 on the door if you don’t already have a social or full pass to Robin Hood Hop. Oh and bring a donation to the Fuddle. As I say, ALL WELCOME so hope to see you all there!

We’re having a slight change of format at classes today. Fundamentals and Improvers classes are running as usual (5.30 & 7pm) but instead of our intermediate class we’re having social dance practice time through till 9pm.
All dancers welcome to stay for this after improvers, with teachers on hand to help with questions.
Same pricing as always, £5 for session, £4 if only staying for fundamentals.
This is a real chance to get those moves and rhythms we’ve been working on imbedded in your social dancing getting you ready for Robin Hood Hop at the end of the month.

Just wanted to give you a heads up that tomorrow between classes 1 & 2 (so 7pm ish) I’ll be showing a preview of our ‘I Charleston Nottingham‘ video – hurrah it’s here!
Last year all the different swing class groups in Nottingham came together to film ourselves dancing all over our fair city. It was a brilliant (and exhausting) weekend of thoroughly dancing our socks off in some fab locations followed by a long road to finally get it ‘in the can’ but after some truly Stirling efforts by the Nottm Uni Swing Soc team it’s finally ready!
The video will go live on YouTube on Wednesday but I have a copy to show a preview tomorrow. It’s all very exciting!

Many of you are already half way through this brilliant weekend of fun and merriment happening this weekend in our fair city.
We had a brilliant welcome party at Late Night Lindy @ Bunkers Hill last night and dancers are now coming to the end of 5 hours of fabulous Lindy hop classes from some amazing teachers from London, Liverpool, Leeds, Durham and Nottingham. Cat & Cam, Matthew & Jenny, Nigel & Debi, Alex & Leanne.

The good news is there’s a big swing dance tonight in the Great Hall in the Trent Building at Nottingham University and ALL ARE WELCOME!!
Tickets are £7 on the door, doors open at 8pm and finishes at 1am. There’ll be live music from Me & Mr Jones, a Jack and Jill Lindy Hop comp and lots and lots of dancing.
Even better news is that for £10 you can buy a social pass which will get you in tonight and entitle to come to the fun tasters tomorrow in Balboa, Belly Dancing and Indian dance followed by a swinging tea dance (Sunday 15 Feb) with plenty of cake 🙂
Remember that there are no classes this Sunday at The Old School Hall in Sneinton as we will all be at NottingJam. Come join us!

Hi all.
As mentioned recently at classes it’s the fabulous Manieres des Bohémiens album launch party tonight at The Malt Cross, St James Street, Nottingham.
I’ll be teaching a Lindy taster class at 8pm (be lovely to have some familiar faces there in support). Then the band will do two sets, and our lovely Jim will be DJing swing tracks in between.
It’s looking to be a top swinging night of live music, DJ sets and dancing and best of all it’s FREE!!
